Hello to all my sisters in the class of '62. Many years have passed since graduation, but I am more fortunate than some because I live in Allentown and get to walk through our beautiful campus from time to time and also participate in some of the cultural activities, most recently the Reimert Lecture where Professor Robert Putnam (Harvard) gave an informative and interesting talk on community in America. I plan to attend some of the reunion activities and hope to see some of you there. |

To all alumni: We all have been
affected by the tragedy of the twin towers. I
remember my first glimpse of them from the park on the Jersey side.
Since moving to Oklahoma, I had not
seen the N.Y.
skyline in some time. I all too well remember the bombing 6 years ago.
My son
and daughter-in-law visited
the memorial
in Ok City, and it was hard for them to walk through it. Even their 3
year old
son felt an
ambiance
that kept him subdued and hushed. I personally have not gone to the
memorial,
but have passed through
the total devastation
caused by the May 3rd tornado in Moore. I can only now picture the
similarities
between
the natural disaster
and the totality of the Trade Towers. I also am affected by the
military call-up
of reservists
and national
guard. My son is in the security forces of the guard and will now be
spending
time there rather than
his civilian job
as a police officer. Though as a mother and physician, I do not want any bodily harm to come to him or any of our men, I also have accepted the resolve that must now come. We can only pray and hope our leaders make the right and necessary decisions that must come. Instant results can not be utilized this time, and we as civilians must be patient along with them and not demand more than they can give. We must become vigilant to this causing any rift in our ranks of patriotism. May God keep us all safe, and may the whole world unite as one! |

To think, I came close to being able to
travel from Tulsa, OK, to attend our 40th
reunion this weekend, but I had to plan my trips East when most
convenient for my parents, children
and grandchildren,
and it just didn't work out. I see tonight that there are only 5 from
our class registered. What
on earth
happened to our class? This is our 40th! I'd be there if I could. |
