Experiential Learning

Adult students are encouraged to discuss with their academic advisor the possibility of earning experiential credit. Experiential learning is knowledge acquired outside the formal classroom. Cedar Crest will award up to 12 credits for experiential learning. To apply, students must be matriculated and have earned at least nine credits at Cedar Crest College. Students are also required to have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Credit is awarded for college level knowledge and competencies that can be demonstrated. This program is designed to give students credit for what they already know and avoid duplicating this knowledge through course work.

Students can apply for experiential credit by completing an application available at the Center for Lifelong Learning. Students submit the application, a portfolio which reflects their career experience and specific skill, and the application deposit to the Center for Lifelong Learning. There is a $50 deposit fee. Credit awarded fees are computed at 50 percent of the current evening/weekend per credit rate.
