Other educational programs are available for students grades K-12
and for adults; please contact the curator for additional information. Tour Reservation Form
Students learn about types of tree leaves, flowers, fruit, twigs,
and bark; the identifying characteristics of different species; and
the role of trees in the environment and the history of the Lehigh
Valley and Pennsylvania. The tour covers up to 30 trees; if teachers
are interested in a particular species please let us know and we
will try to fit it into the tour. An illustrated booklet describing
the trees on the tour will be sent to the teacher upon making a reservation.
We
can accommodate class sizes up to about 30 students. A guide will
meet the groups in front of the main entrance to the Science Center
and give a brief introduction to the arboretum, and then take the
class to visit each tree along the tour route. Tours last 50-60
minutes. Groups are welcome to stay on the grounds after that and
explore
on their own. Please remember that visitors to the arboretum are
welcome to collect leaves that have fallen on the ground, but picking
leaves from the trees is strictly prohibited.
The arboretum tour
