FALCONS TAKE SEASON OPENER AT WILSON TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT
Chambersburg, PA (November 16, 2007) – Cedar Crest freshman Keri Lasky
began her college career by leading all scorers with 21 points against the hosts
at the Wilson College Annual Tip-Off Tournament. Lasky also recorded six steals
in the 63-48 win.
Fellow freshman Leann Wallower was equally impressive
in her debut with 18 points on 7 of 8 shooting. And
sophomore Kelly Oakes was a monster on the glass with 14
boards to go with her 11 points.
Wallower scored the opening basket of the game off a
steal as the Falcons took the early lead and led wire to
wire. Cedar Crest pushed the lead to as large as 10 points
less than five minutes into the game and entered the
locker room up 9 at the half.
In the second half, Cedar Crest led by as many as 14,
but a boisterous home crowd cheered the Phoenix on to a
run that cut the margin to just 5 with under four minutes
to play. The determined Cedar Crest squad ended the game
on an 11-1 run to win by 15.
The Falcons open their season 1-0 and advance to play
the College of St. Elizabeth in Saturday's Championship
game. The Eagles were a 75-41 winner over Christendom
College in Friday's late game.
