OAKES ENDS SEASON WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT - POSTS
A TRIPLE-DOUBLE IN A LOSS TO CENTENARY
Allentown, PA (February 21, 2008) –
Kelly Oakes finished her sophomore season with a bang,
notching a triple-double in an 83-65 loss to the PAC
playoff-bound Centenary Cyclones. Oakes had 23 points, 16
boards and 10 assists to lead the Falcons. In addition, freshman Leann Wallower
posted a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, but
the prolific offensive output of these two was still not
enough to put the Black and Gold over the hump in a very
up-tempo game.
The game was nearly identical to their meeting earlier
this season, a 10-point Centenary victory in Hackettstown.
Tonight the Falcons kept it close early, tying the score
as late as 12:07 into the game before a Cyclone run put
them down nine at the half. In the second half Centenary
added to their lead a bit, but Cedar Crest cut the margin
to 10 on six occasions including as late as 2:12 to play
before running out of gas.
Ultimately, Cedar Crest had no answer for the Cyclones'
Ayana Way who scored a jaw-dropping 39 points. Stephanie
Roberts had 18 points and 11 boards and Kristen Camuso
chipped in 14.
The Falcons finish at 6-19 overall (1-15 PAC) on the season,
while Centenary improves to 15-9 overall (10-6 PAC) and
will enter the PAC playoffs as the fifth seed.
