FIELD HOCKEY SELECTED TO FINISH EIGHTH IN PAC COACHES’ POLL

Aston, PA (August 29, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team was selected to finish eighth in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches’ poll released on Wednesday. 

Eastern University, the defending champion, was selected to finish first after receiving six of the 11 first-place votes for a total of 116 points.  The Eagles slightly edged out Alvernia College, which received five first-place votes and a total of 115 points. 

Misericordia University was slotted to finish third by the coaches in the poll with a total of 96 points.  Cabrini College and Neumann College were next with 83 points each.

Gwynedd-Mercy College (62), Marywood University (56), Immaculata University (47), Cedar Crest (32), College of Notre Dame (22) and Rosemont College (14) rounded out the voting.

The field hockey program, taken over by first-year head coach Marci Lippert, will look to build on its 2-14 overall record from 2006.  The Falcons will open the 2007 season at home against Arcadia at 1:00 pm.
