FIELD HOCKEY DROPS SEASON OPENER TO ARCADIA -- RINKER SCORES FIRST GOAL OF COLLEGIATE CAREER
Allentown, PA (September 1, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team dropped its home opener, 7-1, to Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon.
Arcadia took the early lead in the first half scoring back-to-back goals before Falcon sophomore’s Rachel Orlen, Amy Michalski, and Brittany Fikes stepped up on the defensive end of the ball and held the Knights for the remainder of the first half.
Freshman Kara Rinker scored the first goal of her collegiate career off of an assist from Leslie Savadge early in the second half to cut Arcadia’s lead in half, 2-1. Rinker’s goal would not be enough as the Knights scored five unanswered goals to end the contest.
Orlen made ten saves in the cage for the Falcons, while Arcadia’s Brittany Rassmussen and Rachel Palis were untested in the game.
The Falcons, who fall to 0-1 on the season, will be back in action on Tuesday, September 4 when they host Albright College at 4:00 p.m. Arcadia improves to 1-0 with the victory.
