Baltimore, MD (September 8, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team dropped a 2-1 overtime thriller to the College of Notre Dame in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Alumnae Field.
Freshman Eryn Ziegler scored the first goal of her collegiate career when she took a pass from fellow freshman Jessica Macko at the 28:40 mark in the first half to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead.
Notre Dame’s Ashley Demski evened the score, 1-1, just before halftime on a penalty corner off of a pass from Whitley Noel.
After 70 minutes of regulation in the hot and humid temperature, the game was sent into overtime. Noel notched the game-winner on an unassisted shot from the top of the circle 7:44 into the overtime period.
Sophomore Rachel Orlen stopped seven shots in the cage for Cedar Crest, while Amanda Arkwright made three saves.
The Falcons, who fall to 0-4 on the season, will be back in action on Tuesday, September 11 when they travel to Delaware Valley College for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
