CEDAR CREST TENNIS FALLS IN PAC PLAYOFFS TO NO. 1 SEED CABRINI

Springfield, PA (October 20, 2007) – The Cedar Crest tennis team fell to the No. 1 seed Cabrini, 5-0, in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference playoffs on Saturday afternoon at the Healthplex Sports Club. 

Senior Colleen Ford and sophomore Laura Shivley fell, 8-2 to Dina DiTaranto and Carolyn Wilson in the No. 1 doubles spot.  Freshman Alex Kuebler and sophomore Maria Mallery dropped an 8-4 decision to Megan Simmons and Christine Telling in No. 2 doubles action.  Sophomore Sara Messner and freshman Sarah Schopf fell, 8-4, in the No. 3 doubles spot to Nicole Pontious and Stephanie Tighe. 

Wilson defeated Mallery, 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 singles action, while Shivley fell to Simmons, 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles action.

Cabrini will advance to Sunday’s Championship match. 

Cedar Crest ends its season with a 12-3 overall record and 7-3 in PAC play. 

Cedar Crest will compete in the PAC Individual Championship next Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27.
