FIVE MEMBERS OF CEDAR CREST TENNIS COMPETE AT PAC INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Allentown, PA (October 26, 2007) – Five members of the Cedar Crest College tennis team competed at the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Individual Championship held at the West End Racquet Club on Friday. 

Sophomore Maria Mallery and freshman Alex Kuebler fell, 8-1, in No. 2 doubles action to Ashley Mangabang and Abby Seafross of Misericordia University.  Mallery and Kuebler finished the regular season with an 11-4 overall record. 

In No. 3 doubles action, Cedar Crest sophomore Sara Messner and freshman Sarah Schopf dropped an 8-3 decision to Misericordia’s Alex March and Layren Naher.  Messner and Schopf finished the regular season with a 9-5 overall record. 

Kuebler also competed in No. 3 singles action, but fell, 6-3, 6-3 to Megan Simmons on PAC Champion Cabrini College.  Kuebler finished the season with a team-best 11-4 overall record and was named the PAC Player of the Week and the Cedar Crest Athlete of the Week. 

Senior Colleen Ford finished her outstanding career with a 7-5, 6-0 loss to Neumann College’s Courtney Hartzel in No. 6 singles action.  Ford posted a 10-4 overall record this season. 

Cedar Crest finished its season fourth in the PAC with a 12-3 overall record and 7-3 in PAC play.  The 2007 Falcons set new school records for wins in a season (12) and PAC wins in a season (7).
