CEDAR CREST TENNIS KEEPS WINNING STREAK ALIVE, DEFEATS PAC RIVAL EASTERN
Allentown, PA (September 8, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team remained unbeaten with a 6-3 victory over Pennsylvania Athletic Conference rival Eastern University on Saturday afternoon.
Previously unbeaten, sophomore Maria Mallery fell to Amanda Kuiken in the No. 1 singles spot (6-2, 7-6, 7-4) in a very closely contested match. In No. 2 single action, sophomore Laura Shively fell to Hannah Tobin by default.
Cedar Crest swept the remainder of the singles matches with another win by freshman Alex Kuebler in the No. 3 singles spot. Kuebler has yet to lose a match with a perfect 3-0 singles record.
Also unbeaten, sophomore Sara Messner and freshman Sarah Schopf improve to 3-0 in the No. 4 and No. 5 singles slots respectively. Senior Colleen Ford won her third straight match with an 8-2 victory in the No. 6 singles spot.
Ford and Shively dropped an 8-3 decision to Kuiken and Tobin in No. 1 doubles action, while Mallery and Kuebler notched another win with an 8-2 victory. Messner and Schopf topped No. 3 doubles with an 8-3 win.
Cedar Crest improves to 3-0 on the season and will travel to Pennsylvania Athletic Conference foe Cabrini College on Tuesday, September 11 at 4:00 p.m.
