TENNIS UPENDS CHESTNUT HILL -- REMAINS UNDEFEATED
Allentown, PA (September 13, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team improved its winning streak to four with an 8-1 win over Chestnut Hill College in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
Sophomore Maria Mallery defeated Cara Wallin, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 1 singles spot. In No. 2 single action, sophomore Laura Shively upended Laudra Ginder, 8-2.
Freshman Alex Kuebler remained hot in the in the No. 3 singles spot with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Nicole Aldubayar. Kuebler has yet to lose a match with a perfect 4-0 singles record.
Also unbeaten, sophomore Sara Messner put another notch in the win column with a 4-6, 6-0, 10-5 win over Karen Guwriro in the No. 4 singles slot.
Previously unbeaten, freshman Sarah Schopf lost 1-6, 7-5, 12-10, in the No. 5 singles spot to Colleen Reasoner. Senior Colleen Ford won her fourth straight match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the No. 6 singles spot over Sarah Doherty.
Ford and Shively won an 8-4 decision over Wallin and Guwriro in No. 1 doubles action, while Mallery and Kuebler notched another win with an 8-6 victory. Messner and Schopf topped No. 3 doubles with an 8-4 win.
Cedar Crest improves to 4-0 on the season and will travel to Pennsylvania Athletic Conference foe Cabrini College on Friday,
September 14 at 4:00 p.m.
