CEDAR CREST HARRIERS TAKE FOURTH IN WET AND WILD PAC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP
Philadelphia, PA (October 27, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College women’s cross country team earned an impressive fourth place finish at the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championship meet held at Fairmount Park’s Belmont Plateau 5K course on a monsoon-like Saturday afternoon.
Cedar Crest, which was picked to finish fourth in the PAC pre-season poll, earned 114 points for a fourth place finish out of 10 teams. Marywood University claimed the top spot with 39 points, followed by Misericordia, which posted 42 points on the day. Gwynedd-Mercy finished third with 52 points. Eastern University (126), Immaculata University (168), and Alvernia College (183) rounded out the top point-scoring teams. Cabrini College, Neumann College, and Centenary College did not score.
Freshman Kristen Geisinger finished in the top-spot for the Falcons in 22nd place overall in a time of 24:05. Graduate student Renee Crane posted a 25th place finish in a time of 24:39, while sophomore Tasha Jones added a time of 25:34, which was good for 29th place overall.
Junior Thersia Ault came in 31st overall in a time of 25:59 and sophomore Samantha Barbato finished the race in a time of 27:04 for 42nd place.
The Falcons were running without senior standout Lauren Sanders, who sustained an injury earlier in the week.
