LACROSSE FALLS TO MORAVIAN IN SEASON OPENER
Bethlehem, PA (March 7, 2008) – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team dropped a 19-3 decision to cross-town rival Moravian College in both teams’ season opener at Rocco Calvo Field on Friday afternoon.
Moravian went on a 10-0 run to start the contest, before sophomore Kelly Oakes scored the first goal of the season for the Falcons with 3:29 remaining in the first half.
The Greyhounds opened the second half with back-to-back goals before senior Brianna Adam scored at the 36:56 mark to cut Moravian’s lead, 12-2. Moravian scored two more goals before sophomore Brittany Symbol notched a goal at 42:35 in the second half to make it a 14-3 contest.
Senior Erika Spatz led the Greyhounds with four goals and one assist, while sophomore Lynda Kauffman tallied three goals and two assists in the victory.
Cedar Crest was led by Oakes, who notched one goal and one assist on the day. Adam and Symbol each posted their first goal of the season.
Sophomore Devin Ursini stopped nine shots in goal for the Falcons.
Cedar Crest falls to 0-1 on the season, while Moravian improves to 1-0.
The Falcons will travel to Misericordia University on Friday, March 14 at 4:00 p.m. for a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference match-up.
