EASTERN SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM CEDAR CREST IN PAC ACTION

Allentown, PA (April 19, 2008) – The Eastern University softball team took two games from Cedar Crest College in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.   

Cedar Crest fell, 3-2, in game one and dropped the nightcap, 7-3. 

Junior Allison Holland led the Falcons in the opener, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and also threw a complete game, striking out five and allowing just three earned runs.  Sophomore Maria Mallery, sophomore Rachel Orlen, and freshman Lisa Cassavaugh each tallied one hit for Cedar Crest.

Junior Alyssa Kabat threw the complete game for the Falcons in game two, allowing five earned runs and walking just two batters.  Junior Sarah Campbell and freshman Amy Stumpff led Cedar Crest with two hits each.  Holland, Cassavaugh, and senior Melanie Devlin each added one hit.  Devlin led the team with two RBI in the nightcap. 

The Falcons fall to 12-16 overall (7-11 PAC), while Eastern improves to 19-15overall (12-6 PAC). 

Cedar Crest will travel to Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m. in a non-conference double-header.
