CEDAR CREST SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH CHESTNUT HILL

Philadelphia, PA (April 23, 2008) – The Cedar Crest College softball team used a big eighth inning from junior Alyssa Bonner and sophomore Maria Mallery to earn a 3-2 win over Chestnut Hill College in the nightcap, while dropping the opener, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the CHC softball field.     

Junior Allison Holland threw both games for the Falcons, striking out five batters and allowing one earned run in game one and striking out three batters and allowing no earned runs for the win in game two. 

Junior Alyssa Kabat and freshman Danielle Freeman led the Falcons in the opener, going 2-for-3 at the plate.  Holland and senior Mel Devlin also each added one hit for Cedar Crest.

In the nightcap, Bonner and Kabat each tallied two hits, while Mallery posted one hit and scored the winning run. 

The Falcons are now 13-17 overall, while Chestnut Hill are 10-33 overall. 

Cedar Crest will travel to Alvernia College on Friday, April 25 at 3:00 p.m. in a conference double-header.
