DR. CAROL PULHAM APPOINTED PROVOST OF CEDAR CREST COLLEGE
Special Reception to be Held in Pulham's Honor
Allentown, PA (February 24, 2005) - Dr. Carol Pulham has been appointed Provost, chief academic officer, of Cedar Crest College. Dr. Pulham, who was promoted to Associate Provost in 2003 and most recently served the College as Acting Provost, will be acknowledged at a special reception on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in the Harmon Hall of Peace and Lachaise Gallery.
Dr. Carol Pulham, of Allentown, has an extensive history as
an administrator and professor at area colleges. She joined
the Cedar Crest College faculty in 1983. Prior to that, Pulham
was an instructor and lecturer in English at DeSales University
(formerly Allentown College), Lehigh University and Northampton
County Area Community College. At Cedar Crest she has served
as an instructor and was Assistant Professor of English from
1986 until 1992 when she was named Associate Professor of English.
Since that time she has held numerous positions including Director
of Academic Advising, Chair of English Department, Chair of
the Humanities Department and Co-Chair of the Middle States
Self-Study.
"I have admired and respected Carol since I came to Cedar Crest in 1989. I cannot imagine a better person to work with as our chief academic officer," says Dorothy Gulbenkian Blaney, president of the College. "She has the energy, enthusiasm and resilience necessary for advancing Cedar Crest's educational experience. She has the full support of her colleagues on the faculty and on the administration. The Cedar Crest community has recognized her intellect and leadership abilities in her time as Associate and Acting Provost."
Dr. Pulham received her B.A. in English and music from Cedar Crest, ranking first in her class. She also obtained certification to teach English secondary education. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in English from Lehigh University. Pulham comes from a family of educators. Her mother, brother and sister are all teachers and her father was the first teacher of the legal research course in the paralegal program at Cedar Crest.
