ATTENTION TEACHERS: CEDAR CREST COLLEGE OFFERS THREE CREDIT "HOT TOPICS IN READING" COURSE

 

Allentown, PA (January 8, 2008) - The Education Department at Cedar Crest College will offer a three credit course for teachers, "Hot Topics in Reading" (EDU 560-90-2), in February 2008.

"Hot Topics in Reading" covers the latest surveys by leaders in the field of literacy education. This course is designed to examine issues in:

• Adolescent literacy
• Direct/explicit instruction
• ESL learners
• Fluency

Other multiple perspectives based on published research will also be discussed. Students will focus on how their own professional knowledge and experiences in effective reading instruction align with academic perspectives, public opinion and educational policy.

The course can be completed over two weekends and meets at Cedar Crest College from February 8-10, 2008 and February 22-24, 2008.
