CEDAR CREST'S CAMPUS NEWSPAPER RECEIVES FIRST PLACE AWARD
Allentown, PA (May 5, 2008) - Cedar Crest College's campus newspaper, The Crestiad, was awarded First Place with Special Merit by the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA).
The award is given by ASPA as part of its Annual Review and Contest Awards for scholastic newspapers and other publications. First place awards are given to publications that scored between 850 and 1000 points, and special merit was granted to those who scored more than 900 points based on seven criteria - content coverage; page design; general plan; art, advertising, illustrations; editing; and creativity. The Crestiad scored 970 points overall.
The Crestiad, a student-run newspaper organization, is published biweekly with the goal of keeping students informed about events and issues of concern to the Cedar Crest community, and providing students with an on-campus internship-quality media experience. The student staff is a member of the Associated Collegiate Press and Student Press Law Center.
