The Rodale Aquatic Center promotes civic health and wellness in our community through a variety of quality programming. Our Swim School follows the American Red Cross’ nationally recognized Learn to Swim Program, with additional tools to aid in progression development. Private, semiprivate and group classes are offered to swimmers of all ages and abilities. Classes focus on improving swimming skills and include first aid and basic water safety.
•All Rodale Aquatic Center (RAC) students must check-in at the front desk
for each class with ID card.
• The Rodale Aquatic Center may combine levels to form classes (due to low
enrollment or lack of enrollment).
• Classes must have the required minimum enrollment to be held.
• Enrollment of classes is on a space available basis.
•Make-up classes for group, private and semi-private lessons will be rescheduled
for inclement weather and Rodale Aquatic Center cancellations.
• A parent/guardian must accompany children under the age of 16 into the
facility and remain in the facility with the children. If the child cannot pass
the band test given by the lifeguards (swimming one length of the
competition pool and treading water for one minute), a parent or guardian
must accompany the child in the water in the competition or fitness pool(s)
during any practice times. There will be no fee charged to the parent or
guardian, but they must complete a “waiver and agreement to participate”
form.
• Shoulder length hair must be maintained in a ponytail or a swim cap to gain
entrance into the pool.
• Children must wait for their name to be called by their instructor before
entering the pool area.
• Parents/guardians are not permitted on the pool deck during swim classes.
They should remain in the lobby/viewing area.
• No street shoes or strollers in the pool area.
• Facemasks that enclose the nose, for use as goggles, are not permitted.
• Children of the opposite gender, over the age of 5, are not permitted in
either of the men’s or women’s locker rooms. Please make use of the family
changing rooms or curtain areas.
• No chewing gum.
• Please remove band-aids prior to entering the pool.
• No one may swim with open sores, contagious skin conditions, or diarrhea.
• Only US Coast Guard-Approved flotation devices are permitted in the
RAC pools. No floaties, swimmies, inner tubes, or swimsuits with flotation
are permitted.
• Progression is dependent upon the learning curve of the individual student
and cannot be guaranteed within the duration of one particular course
session.
• Due to program scheduling, it would be advantageous to schedule an
appointment with your child's instructor if you should have any questions
regarding the class.
• Circumstances beyond our control may require a substitute instructor.
Tuition covers quality instruction, not a specific instructor. All RAC swim
school instructors are trained under the same swim lesson guidelines to
ensure proper class curricula are followed in the event of an instructor’s
absence.
