Qualified first-year students who plan to participate in the performing arts at Cedar Crest College may audition for renewable $1,500 scholarships in dance and theatre performance. (You do not need to major in the performing arts to be considered for one of these scholarships.) Below is what is expected when you arrive for your audition.
Theatre Performance Scholarship
To audition for the theatre scholarship, you must perform a 3- to 5-minute memorized monologue. Your audition may also include a vocal selection. Singers must provide their own musical accompaniment and CD player.
The dance audition consists of center floor work in addition to a movement phrase in modern or contemporary dance style. You should come prepared with solo choreography, which should be no longer than 3 minutes and may be choreographed by you or someone else. You will also be interviewed by one of our faculty members. Music should be on a CD and should contain only the solo music. For more information on the dance scholarship requirements click here.
