Alumnae Success Stories

Explore the options that may be open to you during and after earning your Cedar Crest College degree.

Students who have graduated with a Spanish major or minor from Cedar Crest College have achieved success both in graduate studies and the workplace.

Molly Thompson-Chávez ’10

Thompson-Chávez ’10 is an outreach worker at the Center for Women’s Medicine in Allentown, PA. (a community practice of the Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network). Molly’s bilingualism has allowed her to rise through the ranks, becoming a highly-trained medical interpreter and the Associate Director of the Center.

Molly is currently writing the script for a patient orientation video for immigrants and other new patients of the clinic. She also helps educate families on the importance of childbirth preparedness through classes offered entirely in Spanish. In the near future, she hopes to develop a course for adolescent pregnant women.

While at Cedar Crest College, Molly was an active Spanish Club member who made a documentary about immigrant students at William Allen High School. During her studies, she also was the Community School Coordinator at Central Elementary School, where she directed the coordination of interpreters for over 600 parent/teacher conferences and led bilingual parent-teacher meetings to increase parent involvement.
