Prepare for your First Academic Advising Meeting

As you prepare for your first academic meeting, think about your values, your responsibilities outside of the classroom, and your overarching goals. Keeping these elements at the forefront of your discussion with your academic advisor will help you shape your first semester.

Please bring the following items with you to your first academic advising meeting:

Academic Advising Meeting Agenda

At your first academic advising meeting, your advisor will review your Statement of Advanced Standing and answer any questions you may have about how your transfer credits may apply toward your major and the Liberal Arts Curriculum.

Next, using My Cedar Crest, you and your academic advisor will look at course offerings for the upcoming semester, build a schedule that works for you, and register for classes.

You’re registered. What’s next?

Tuition and Financial Aid

After you have registered for classes, you will receive your tuition bill in the mail. If you have any questions about your bill or financial aid, please contact Student Financial Services (610-606-4602 or finaid@cedarcrest.edu). Click here to link to SFS on My Cedar Crest.
Students with last names A-L may also contact Andrea Helwig (610-606-4666 ext. 3386 or alhelwig@cedarcrest.edu). Students with lasts names M-Z should contact Kim Adamson (610-606-4666 ext., 3380 or kladamso@cedarcrest.edu).

Email (GroupWise)

Your Cedar Crest College email account information will be sent to your personal email address. If you do not receive your email account information, please contact the Information Technology Helpdesk (610-606-4635 or helpdesk@cedarcrest.edu). Watch your Cedar Crest College email account closely as your professors may send important course-related information to you prior to the first day of class. Click here to link to Information Technology on My Cedar Crest.

Orientation

You should make every effort to attend SAGE Orientation. At orientation you will obtain your photo ID card and parking sticker, purchase your textbooks, locate your classrooms on a tour of the facilities, and learn more about the technology available to you on campus. Click here for a link to the Cedar Crest Bookstore.

Academic Calendar

Check the academic calendar for important dates throughout the semester. Be sure to make note of the drop/add and course withdrawal deadlines. Click here to view the college’s current and future academic calendar.
