Customize Your Degree—Global Studies
Our global studies program allows you to customize your degree to better qualify you to pursue your career goals.
Our global studies curriculum is designed to give you the option of adding another major or minor, in addition to selecting a specific concentration within the global studies major.
Customizing Your Global Studies Major
In your first semesters here, you will take global studies courses that provide a broad view of globalization: the process by which the world has become increasingly connected in an economic, political, cultural and environmental sense. After you have completed these introductory courses, you will be required to focus your studies by choosing one of three concentrations:
- Religion, Culture and Society
- International Business and Economics
- Global Stewardship
Adding Another Major/Minor
Our global studies curriculum is designed to give you the option of adding another major or minor, in addition to selecting a specific concentration within the global studies major. In doing so, our students are able to pursue multiple areas of interest and to customize their degree to more closely relate to their desired career goals. Students who want to work in the media and report on global issues might decide to add a communication major.
Add an Anthropology Minor
Anthropology and Global Studies truly complement each other by providing greater insight into the foundation of a country’s political, economical and cultural existence. Not only will you develop a strong knowledge of the global connection between these factors, but you will know the path each civilization took to arrive at that connection. These studies will help you understand conflicts and global situations from multiple cultural perspectives, giving you a unique and highly academic view of the world. This is especially helpful for students interested in working for a foreign organization or in a career in archeology or journalism.
