Performing Arts Scholarship Day

The Performing Arts Department offers $1,500/year renewable scholarships in dance, theatre, technical theatre, and speech. Every year during the February musical, the department holds Performing Arts Scholarship Day for high school seniors interested in attending Cedar Crest College. On this day attendees will learn about Performing Arts opportunities, audition for scholarships, attend our spring musical, participate in a masterclass/workshop, enjoy dinner on campus and stay overnight with current students! Registration is required.

Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 3-10 PM

I plan to attend Performing Arts Scholarship Day on Saturday, February 20th, 2016.

Theatre Audition Criteria

To audition for the theatre scholarship, student must perform a 3- to 5-minute contemporary monologue.

Dance Audition Criteria

The dance audition consists of center floor work in addition to a movement phrase in modern or contemporary dance style. Students should come prepared with solo choreography, which should be no longer than 3 minutes and may be choreographed by student or someone else. Students will also be interviewed by one of our faculty members. Music should be on a CD or iPod and should contain only the solo music.

Technical Theatre Audition Criteria

Technical production or design students must provide 2 letters or recommendation from their high school theatre advisors/teachers or community theatre directors. Students must also provide a resume of their work and pictures or a portfolio.

I would like to audition for the Technical Theatre Scholarship.

Forensic Speech Audition Criteria

Forensic Speech students should prepare an 8-10 minute oral interpretation presentation (prose, poetry, or dramatic interpretation), or an 8-10 minute public address presentation (informative or persuasive). Manuscripts in binders are preferable for oral interpretation presentations. Memorization is preferable for public address presentations. Those who audition will also complete a short interview with the Director of Forensic Speech.
