Spring orientation will be held on January 16, 2012. During orientation, you'll have the chance to connect with your peers, meet student leaders, and interact with faculty and staff. Expect to learn more about the opportunities on campus and get a jump start on college life. You'll make new friends and connections—and you'll leave campus looking forward to your first semester at Cedar Crest!

10 a.m. Registration
Tompkins College Center (TCC), Level Three Lobby
Welcome to Cedar Crest College! After checking in, make your way to the TCC information desk to obtain your college ID. You will also have a chance to register your car with Campus Police; please bring your vehicle registration, proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license. Members of the Parent and Family Executive Council will be present to greet you and your family on your first day.

11 a.m. Welcome and Introduction to the Transfer Mentor Network
TCC, 1867 Room
Christine Nowik, Director of Academic Services and Dr. Denise O’Neill, Associate Dean of Student Affairs The Transfer Student Mentor Network matches new transfer students with staff members and current students to help new students adjust to campus life. Staff and student mentors provide support regarding classes, campus resources and personal concerns. Learn more about this program and how you can benefit from the Transfer Mentor Network.

11:30 a.m. Transferring Credits to Cedar Crest College

We know that transferring college credits to Cedar Crest is a top priority for our transfer students. Janet Baker, registrar, will provide helpful information on the credit transfer process.

12 p.m. President’s Welcome
TCC, 1867 Room
Celebrate the beginning of your Cedar Crest journey! Join President Carmen Twillie Ambar, and student leaders for your official welcome to the Cedar Crest family.

12:15 p.m. Opening Lunch with Campus Departments
TCC, 1867 Room
Hear from various departments on campus, who will provide you with the tools to ease your transition to Cedar Crest College. Some of the departments that will be featured include:

  • Dr. Cynthia Fulford, executive director of women’s leadership and student development
  • Kate Carannante, director of career planning
  • Shannon Pretko, information technology specialist
  • Dr. Jenny Weatherford, director of global initiatives
  • Kenza Glass, director of multicultural center
  • Ashley Day, president, Student Government Association

1:30 p.m. Information Technology/MyCedarCrest

Information Technology (IT) ensures that all students have access to technology that will greatly assist their academic and social experience. This session will introduce you to technology on campus, including MyCedarCrest, and the support that is provided by this department.

2:00 p.m. Faculty Advising
Faculty Advisor’s Office (TBD)
Each student will review their spring schedule with a faculty advisor. Individual advising times will be provided.

3:15 p.m. Classroom Tours
Cedar Crest College Ambassadors
Ambassadors will provide optional tours of classrooms.

4 p.m. Tour of the Lehigh Valley
Off Campus (Optional)
Cedar Crest College Ambassadors
An ambassador from the admissions department will provide an overview and tour of the local community. Uncover some of the hidden treasures of the Lehigh Valley.
