Lacko Wins Faculty Award
Lisa Lacko, R.N., is the 2012 winner of the annual Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching, sponsored by the Cedar Crest College Alumnae Association. An assistant professor, she joined the faculty in 2001 and specializes in nursing care for the elderly. Formerly a geriatric research specialist with Lehigh Valley Hospital, she remains an active researcher and presenter at major conferences. Lacko earned her B.S. in nursing from Cedar Crest in 1981 and holds a master's degree from St. Francis de Sales. In recommending her for the award, a student wrote: "I hope that whatever specialty I pursue, I will be able to give my patients the warmth she gives to hers."
Balog to Lead Business Department
Assistant Professor Ibolya "Ibi" Balog was recently appointed head of the business, management and economics department. She succeeds Gaetan Giannini, who is now dean of the School of Adult and Graduate Education (SAGE). Ibi is an active member of the Allentown Rotary Club and has more than 20 years of experience consulting with area companies on business and tax planning, ownership transition, estate planning, and more. One of her key responsibilities at Cedar Crest will be overseeing the launch of a Strategic Plan initiative, the Cooperative Education Program: Four-Year Accounting and Marketing Experience.
