CEDAR CREST FALL SPORTS SET TO OPEN THIS WEEKEND
Allentown, PA (August 27, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College fall sports teams are set to open the 2007 season this Saturday, September 1.
The volleyball team, which went 13-11 overall and 5-6 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference play, is slated to take on Penn State Abington at 10:00 am and Bryn Mawr College at 2:00 pm in Lees Hall, located on the campus of Cedar Crest. Penn State Abington and Bryn Mawr will go head-to-head at noon. Kristin Maile, currently the Director of Athletics at Cedar Crest, will take over the reins of the volleyball team for the 2007 season.
With an 8-7 overall record and a 6-5 finish in the PAC in 2006, the tennis team will look to continue its winning ways in the 2007 season. Third-year head coach Lynn Pigliacampi and her team will travel to Philadelphia Biblical University for a 1:00 pm start.
After finishing 3-14-1 overall and 0-10 in the PAC, the soccer team will be traveling to Penn State Abington at 1:00 pm to open its 2007 season. Todd Ervin will step in as the new head coach for the soccer program.
The field hockey program, taken over by first-year head coach Marci Lippert, will look to build on its 2-14 overall record from 2006. The Falcons will open the 2007 season at home against Arcadia at 1:00 pm.
The Cross Country team, which finished fourth in the PAC last season, will travel to Marywood University to compete in the Marywood Labor Day Invitational, starting at 10:15 am. The Cross Country team will be led by ninth-year head coach Dan Donohue.
