CEDAR CREST FIELD HOCKEY SUFFERS HEARTBREAKING DOUBLE OVERTIME LOSS TO ROSEMONT
Allentown, PA (September 22, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1double overtime loss to Pennsylvania Athletic Conference rival Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon.
This marks the second overtime loss for the Falcons this season.
Rosemont’s Alexis Feyoudehappy got the scoring started at the 19:41 mark in the first half of play off of an assist from Kristen Reilly.
Sophomore Heather Rice answered for Cedar Crest with 12:46 remaining in the second half off of a pass from freshman Eryn Ziegler to even the score, 1-1.
Ziegler was awarded a penalty stroke with no time remaining in the first overtime, but the shot was stopped by Rosemont goalie Adriann Demchenko, who posted 21 saves on the day. The score remained tied after the first overtime period.
Ashley Conti nailed the game-winner on a breakaway after 95 minutes of play.
The Falcons held a 22-15 advantage in shots and each team posted 13 corners on the day.
The Falcons, who fall to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the PAC, will be back in action on Monday, September 24 when they play PAC rival Neumann College at 4:00 p.m.
