CEDAR CREST TENNIS WINS SECOND STRAIGHT, TOPPING COLLEGE OF ST. ELIZABETH, 7-2
Morristown, NJ (September 6, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team continued its winning ways with a 7-2 victory over the College of St. Elizabeth at Morris County Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
In No. 1 singles action, Cedar Crest sophomore Maria Mallery defeated Jessica Ringo, 8-1, while No. 2 Laura Shively, a sophomore, dropped a close 9-8 decision to Shanah Orie. No. 3 singles Alex Kuebler, a Cedar Crest freshman, posted her second collegiate victory over Kim Christel, 8-1.
No. 4 Sarah Messner, a sophomore, posted an 8-1 victory over Lisa Colambrone, while No. 5 Sarah Schopf outlasted Amelia Joseph, 8-1, for her second victory of the season. Senior Colleen Ford, Cedar Crest’s No. 6 singles, defeated Melody Rao, 8-1.
Shively and Ford dropped a 9-7 decision in the No. 1 doubles spot, while Mallery and Kuebler notched an 8-1 win over Christel and Colambrone. No. 3 doubles Schopf and Messner posted an 8-0 victory over Rao and Joseph.
Cedar Crest improves to 2-0 on the season and will host Pennsylvania Athletic Conference rival Eastern University on Saturday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m.
