VOLLEYBALL SELECTED TO FINISH EIGHTH IN PAC COACHES’ POLL
Aston, PA (August 29, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College women’s volleyball team was selected to finish eighth in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches’ poll released on Wednesday.
Eastern University, the ten-time defending champion, was selected to finish first after receiving ten of the twelve first-place votes for a total of 142 points.
Neumann College, the 2006 PAC Championship Runner-up, finished second in the pre-season poll with 129 points including one first-place vote. Gwynedd-Mercy College (116 points) and Cabrini College (107) came in third and fourth place respectively in the poll. Misericordia University received a lone first-place vote.
Marywood University (90), Alvernia College (87), Misericordia (69), Cedar Crest (62), College of Notre Dame (47), Centenary College (37), Immaculata University (35) and Rosemont College (15) rounded out the voting.
The volleyball team, which went 13-11 overall and 5-6 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference play, is slated to take on Penn State Abington at 10:00 am and Bryn Mawr College at 2:00 pm in Lees Hall, located on the campus of Cedar Crest. Penn State Abington and Bryn Mawr will go head-to-head at noon. Kristin Maile, currently the Director of Athletics at Cedar Crest, will take over the reins of the volleyball team for the 2007 season.
