FALCONS CROSS COUNTRY FINISH EIGHTH OUT OF 23 TEAMS AT THE BELMONT CLASSIC INVITATIONAL


Philadelphia, PA (September 29, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College women’s cross country team paced an eighth place finish out of 23 teams at the Belmont Classic Invitational hosted by Cabrini College held at Fairmount Park’s Belmont Plateau 5K course.

Sophomore Tasha Jones posted a 28th place finish out of 125 runners in a time of 22:09.  Graduate student Renee Crane had a career day earning her personal best time of 22:31, while senior Lauren Sanders added a 37th place finish in a time of 22:37.  Junior Thersia Ault notched her personal best time in a time of 23:42. 

Cedar Crest was the top finisher of the five Pennsylvania Athletic Conference schools that competed. 

Wilmington College and Philadelphia University tied for the top spot of the day with 97 team points.  Delaware Valley College took third place with 113 points, closely followed by the University of the Sciences with 114 points.  Lebanon Valley College notched fifth place with 155 points and Nyack took sixth with 163.  Widener University finished in the seventh spot with 180 points and Cedar Crest amassed 191 points for eighth place.

The Falcons will compete in the Women’s 5K Classic held at the Lehigh Parkway on Saturday, October 13th at 9:00 a.m.
