SUNDERHAUS HAS 31 POINTS IN CAREER OPENER TO LEAD CEDAR CREST OVER LANCASTER BIBLE


Allentown, PA (November 15, 2008) – Freshman Elizabeth Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin) posted a game-high 31 points and seven steals in her career debut to lead Cedar Crest College to an 82-56 victory over Lancaster Bible College in the first round of the Falcon Basketball Tip-off Classic on Saturday afternoon in Lees Gymnasium.

Cedar Crest hurried out to a 24-12 lead over the first ten minutes of the contest, led by Saunderhaus’ ten point effort.  The Falcons then took their largest lead of the half, going up, 48-28 on a made layup by Saunderhaus with five seconds remaining in the first half. 

The second half was all Cedar Crest, when the Falcons took a 62-36 lead, its largest of the contest, at the 15:58 mark on a jumper by junior Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle). 

Oakes and sophomore Leann Wallower (Havertown, PA/Haverford) both hit double-digits for the Falcons, with ten points each.  Sophomore Lakeena Jones (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) tallied eight points, six boards, and a team-high five assists in her first game as a Falcon.  Sophomore Keri Lasky (Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) added nine points in the win.

Nicole Karshner scored a team-high 12 points to lead the Chargers. 

Eastern University defeated Bay Path College, 72-28 in game two of the tournament.
Cedar Crest improves to 1-0 on the season and will take on Eastern University in Sunday’s Championship game at 3:00 p.m. in Lees Gymnasium.  Lancaster Bible will take on Bay Path College at 1:00 p.m. in the Consolation game.  LBC falls to 0-1 on the season.
