SUNDERHAUS EARNS ANOTHER FIRST FOR CEDAR CREST BASKETBALL AS SHE IS NAMED TO THE D3HOOPS.COM ALL-REGION TEAM

Sterling, VA (March 18, 2009) – Cedar Crest College basketball added another first to its already record-breaking season as freshman Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin)  was named to the D3Hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team. 

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. The teams were voted on by the Sports Information Directors in the region. 

Sunderhaus, the 2009 Colonial States Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, was also previously named First-Team All-Conference and to the CSAC Sportsmanship Team.  She led her team to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. 

Sunderhaus finished the season, ranking sixth in the CSAC, averaging 14.5 points per game. She also ranked third in the CSAC and 12th in the nation, averaging 12.1 rebounds per contest.  She finished ranked first in the CSAC in blocked shots (59) and field goal percentage (51.3%).

Cedar Crest, which ended its season at 14-12 overall, set the new school record for wins in a season.  The previous school record of 13 wins was set in the 1998-99 season, when the Falcons last made the playoffs.
