FIELD HOCKEY FALLS 3-1 TO SECOND PLACE NEUMANN IN CSAC MATCH ON SENIOR DAY

Allentown, PA (October 27, 2008) – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team scored first and held the lead for the majority of the first half, but it would not be enough as Neumann College scored three unanswered goals to post a 3-1 win over the Falcons in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Monday afternoon.

Seniors Heather Gallagher and Braidyn Womer were honored in a pre-game ceremony in honor of their last home game.

Sophomore Adrienne Maurer tipped a pass from freshman Tara Fikes to give Cedar Crest the 1-0 lead off of a penalty corner at the 14:37 mark in the first half.  This goal was the first of Maurer’s career.

Neumann’s Lauren Hood evened the score, 1-1, with just under a minute remaining in the first half of play.

The Knights then scored two unanswered goals late in the second half for the win.

Cedar Crest falls to 3-13 (2-7 CSAC), while Neumann improves to 9-10 overall (8-1CSAC).

Cedar Crest will travel to Albright College in non-league action on Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. for the last game of the season.
