CEDAR CREST FIELD HOCKEY EARNS NFHCA NATIONAL ACADEMIC TEAM AWARD

Allentown, PA (March 23, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team earned the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Team Award for the 2008 season.  The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2008-09 academic year.

The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes which have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2008-09 academic year.  Cedar Crest was represented by: Freshmen Tara Fikes, Falynn Strohl, and Samantha DeVentura, sophomores Adrienne Maurer, Jessica Macko, and Eryn Ziegler, junior Brittany Fikes, and senior Heather Gallagher.

The Cedar Crest College field hockey team finished with a 3-13 overall (2-6 CSAC) record and was voted the CSAC Sportsmanship Team of the Year by a vote of the league’s players.
