DAVID HODGSON NAMED HEAD SOCCER COACH AT CEDAR CREST COLLEGE
Allentown, PA (May 19, 2009) – David Hodgson, an assistant coach at Drew University for the past four seasons, has been named the head coach of the soccer program at Cedar Crest College.
The announcement was made today by the Director of Athletics, Kristin Maile. “We’re thrilled to have a coach with David's recruiting experience and we’re confident that he will energize our soccer program. He made an instant connection with our student-athletes and they are excited the upcoming season,” said Maile.
Hodgson, who will be the fourth soccer coach in school history, comes to Cedar Crest from NCAA Division III Drew University, where he was an assistant women’s soccer coach since 2004.
He was also most recently an assistant coach and professional scout with the Sky Blue FC Women’s Professional Soccer League. He assisted the head coach with all aspects of game day, training methods, and recruitment of domestic and international players.
Hodgson had a brief stint an assistant coach at St. Peter’s College, an NCAA Division I institution, in the 2003-2004 season.
A former member of the South Jersey Barons and Reading Rage teams, he has gained playing and coaching experience in Europe, North America, and Asia.
Hodgson graduated from Worcester University (England) with a B.S. in sports and exercise studies in 2000. He was three-year team member, a student coach, and also a team captain.
His coaching credentials include an English Football Association Coaching Certificate and a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.
