CEDAR CREST TENNIS POSTS SHUTOUT OVER BAPTIST BIBLE IN LEAGUE OPENER


LaPlume, PA (September 10, 2008)
– The Cedar Crest College tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout of Baptist Bible College in its Colonial States Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior Maria Mallery defeated Katie Boger in three sets at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Alexandria Kuebler notched a win at the No. 2 singles spot over Kellie Bernard.  Junior Laura Shivley added a win at No. 3 singles and junior Sara Messner shutout Barbara Zentz, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles spot.  Sophomores Amy Dichter and Sarah Schopf posted wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots, respectively. 

Mallery and Kuebler defeated Boger and Bernard, 8-5, in No. 1 doubles action, while Shivley and Messner added a win at the No. 2 doubles spot.  Dichter and Schopf captured an 8-1 victory in No. 3 doubles. 

Cedar Crest is currently 2-3 overall and 1-0 in CSAC action on the season, while Baptist Bible College falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in CSAC play.

The Falcons will travel to Philadelphia Biblical University on Saturday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
