TENNIS POSTS SECOND WIN IN A ROW WITH 9-0 VICTORY OVER PHILADELPHIA BIBLICAL
Langhorne, PA (September 13, 2008) – The Cedar Crest College tennis team posted its second-straight 9-0 shutout with a win over Philadelphia Biblical University on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
Junior Maria Mallery defeated Katelynn Wilson, 6-2, 6-0 to take the No. 1 singles victory, while sophomore Alex Kuebler notched a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jocelyn Palmer in No. 2 singles action. Junior Laura Shivley added a win, defeating Danielle Hirsch, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles slot, while junior Sara Messner took the No. 4 singles win, 6-1, 6-0 over Bethany McCormack. Sophomores Amy Dichter and Sarah Schopf added wins at the No. 5 and 6 singles spots, respectively.
Mallery and Kuebler handed Wilson and Palmer an 8-4 loss in No. 1 doubles action, while Shivley and Messner posted an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles action. Dichter and Schopf notched an 8-1 win at the No. 3 doubles spot.
Cedar Crest is currently 3-3 overall and 2-0 in CSAC action on the season, while Philadelphia Biblical University falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in CSAC play.
The Falcons will travel to Alvernia College on Tuesday, September 16 at 3:30 p.m. in non-league action.
