CEDAR CREST BASKETBALL FALLS TO CENTENARY IN CSAC PLAY -- JONES SCORES CAREER-HIGH 32 POINTS

Hackettstown, NJ (January 11, 2010) – Senior Lakeema Jones (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) scored a career-high 32 points, but it would not be enough as the Centenary College basketball team edged Cedar Crest College, 92-84, in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Monday evening in Folkner Gymnasium.

Jones shot an outstanding 77.8 percent from the field, going 14-of-18 to lead Cedar Crest.  Sophomore Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin) added 12 points and matched her career-high with a game-high 22 rebounds.  Ironically, Sunderhaus’ career-high 22 rebounds came last season on February 14, 2009 at Centenary College.

Cedar Crest shot a season-best 56.3 percent from the field in the first half of play, leading the Falcons to a 45-44 halftime lead, but Centenary would turn it on in the second half of play, outscoring Cedar Crest, 48-39.  Centenary forced 23 Cedar Crest turnovers, while only making 15.

Centenary was led by Jen Vasta, who tallied a team-high 26 points for the Cyclones.  Brittany Taylor added 22 points, while Kristen Camuso added 12 points in the win for the host.

Cedar Crest sophomore Leann Wallower (Havertown, PA/Haverford) added 17 points and six boards, while sophomore Allison Horn (New Tripoli, Northwestern) added nine points and four assists.

Cedar Crest falls to 6-5 overall (0-2 CSAC) on the season, while Centenary improves to 6-4 overall (3-0 CSAC).  The Falcons will return to action Wednesday evening when they host Philadelphia Biblical University for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off in Colonial States Athletic Conference play.
