IMMACULATA HANDS CEDAR CREST LOSS IN BASKETBALL ACTION
Allentown, PA (February 4, 2010) – Immaculata University handed the Cedar Crest College basketball team a 75-64 loss in non-conference action on Thursday evening in Lees Gymnasium.
Senior Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle) led Cedar Crest with a game-high 21 points, while also grabbing 10 boards on the night. Sophomore Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin) added her second double-double of the week with 16 points and 14 rebounds. She also added three steals in the loss.
Immaculata was led by Rachel Denis, who tallied a team-high 15 points in the win for the Mighty Macs.
Cedar Crest shot an outstanding 50.1 percent from the field in the first half, but it would not be enough the second half saw the Falcons shooting just 20.0 percent from the field. The Falcons held the 42-33 lead at halftime, but could not hold on in the second half as Immaculata shot 53.0 percent and held Cedar Crest to just 22 points.
Cedar Crest was playing without leading scorer, senior Lakeema Jones (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) due to injury.
Cedar Crest falls to 11-9 overall, while Immaculata improves to 12-8 overall. This game was played as a non-conference game because of the cancellation of the game with the College of Notre Dame. The Falcons will host Keystone College on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in Lees Gymnasium. This game will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
