CEDAR CREST HAS FIVE SCORERS IN DOUBLE-FIGURES IN WIN OVER KEYSTONE
Allentown, PA (February 8, 2010) – Five players on the Cedar Crest College basketball team hit for double-figures in a 64-55 victory over Keystone College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Monday evening.
Senior Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle) posted her fifth-straight double-double with 10 points and a team-high 15 rebounds to lead Cedar Crest in the victory over the Giants. Oakes added two assists, two steals, and two blocks on the night for the Falcons. This marks her seventh double-double of the season.
Sophomore Alison Horn (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) notched a team-high 15 points, six assists, and four steals, while sophomore Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin) posted 14 points and six rebounds for the Falcons. Senior Lakeema Jones (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) added 10 points and five assists on the night and junior Leann Wallower (Havertown, PA/Haverford) hit for 13 points to round out the Cedar Crest players in double-figures.
Keystone College was led by Yasmeen Bates, who played an outstanding game, hitting for 17 points and grabbing 21 rebounds for the Giants.
Cedar Crest jumped out to the early 17-5 lead at the 13:29 mark in the first half and never looked back, holding the lead for the entire half. Keystone would pull within six with one second left on the clock just before halftime on a jumper by Sarah Baretto. Cedar Crest took a 29-23 lead heading into the locker room.
The Falcons would hold their halftime lead for the remainder of the contest. Cedar Crest took its largest lead of the night, up 62-50, with 3:06 remaining in the contest on a made trey by Sunderhaus.
The Cedar Crest defense caused 21 turnovers by Keystone and capitalized, scoring 15 points off of turnovers.
Cedar Crest improves to 13-9 overall (7-5 CSAC), while Keystone falls to 4-15 overall (2-9 CSAC). The Falcons will host Baptist Bible College on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in Lees Gymnasium in league play.
