CEDAR CREST FALLS TO CENTENARY IN CSAC ACTION ON SENIOR DAY
Allentown, PA (February 13, 2010) –The Cedar Crest College basketball team fell, 108-86, to Centenary College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Lees Gymnasium. This game also marked Cedar Crest’s Think Pink game to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
Cedar Crest honored its five seniors in a pre-game ceremony. Seniors Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle), Lakeema Jones (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport), Jesenia Holguin (Jackson, NJ/New Egypt), Mackenzie Lee (Bar Harbor, ME/Mount Desert Island), and Lindsay Orlandi (Mine Hill, NJ/Dover) were recognized.
Oakes led Cedar Crest with a team-high 24 points. She also grabbed seven boards and dished out five assists. Sophomore Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin) added her 12th double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds, including going 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Alison Horn (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) added 15 points, while junior Leann Wallower (Havertown, PA/Haverford) added 10 points in the loss for the Falcons.
Centenary College was led by Jen Vasta who played an outstanding game, hitting for 26 points and five assists. Kristen Camuson added 25 points and five assists for the Cyclones as well.
Centenary capitalized on Cedar Crest’s 26 turnovers, scoring 28 points off of turnovers. The Cyclones held a 48-39 halftime lead and never looked back in the second half of play.
Cedar Crest falls to 13-10 overall (7-6 CSAC), while Centenary improves to 13-10 overall (10-5 CSAC).
The Falcons will travel to Marywood University on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in CSAC action.
