OAKES AND SUNDERHAUS BOTH NAMED TO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ALL-COLONIAL STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SECOND-TEAM
Aston, PA (February 22, 2010) – Senior guard Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle) and sophomore center Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin) were both named to the Women’s Basketball All-Colonial States Athletic Conference Second-Team released on Monday morning by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Oakes, a previous All-Conference selection, finished the season ranked fourth in the CSAC in rebounds per game (10.1) and fourth in assists per game (3.5). She ranks third in the CSAC with 11 double-doubles this season and 14th in the CSAC in scoring, averaging 12.1 points per game. Oakes was named to the CSAC Honor Roll and also named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year this season. Oakes is just the second player in Cedar Crest history to reach the 1,000 point and 1,000 rebound club. She finished her stellar career at Cedar Crest with 1,149 points, 1,005 rebounds, and 349 assists.
Sunderhaus, the 2009 CSAC Rookie of the Year and First Team All-CSAC selection, was named to the Second-Team after leading the CSAC, averaging 12.0 rebounds per game. She also ranks first in the CSAC with 14 double-doubles on the season and ranks second in the CSAC in free throw percentage (.833) and blocked shots (41). She also ranks fourth in field goal percentage (.509). Sunderhaus was named to the Moravian All-Tournament Team, the Falcon Classic Tournament MVP, twice named to CSAC Honor Roll, named to ESPN the Magazine All-Academic First Team, and named the Allentown Morning Call Player of the Week this season.
Sophomore Allison Horn (New Triploi, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) was named to the CSAC Sportsmanship team.
Cedar Crest finished the season at 13-12 overall (8-8 CSAC).
