OAKES REPRESENTS CEDAR CREST AS LVAIAW OUTSTANDING ATHLETE
Bethlehem, PA (May 4, 2010) –Senior three-sport athlete Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle) represented Cedar Crest College as its outstanding athlete at the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women annual luncheon on Tuesday afternoon at Starters Riverport.
The LVAIAW consists of: Cedar Crest College, De Sales University, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Kutztown University, Moravian College, and Muhlenberg College. These institutions joined together to promote women’s sports at each institution, as well as acknowledge outstanding female athletes among all these institutions.
Oakes is a three-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse. She was a four-year starter on all three teams at Cedar Crest. She was an all-conference selection in basketball and volleyball and was twice named MVP of the lacrosse team and the basketball team. She was also named MVP of the volleyball team. Oakes is just the second player in Cedar Crest history to reach the 1,000 point and 1,000 rebound club in basketball. She finished her stellar career at Cedar Crest with 1,149 points, 1,005 rebounds, and 349 assists.
She has also been named to the CSAC Sportsmanship Team and the CSAC All-Academic Team. Kelly has also been recognized as a CSAC Athlete of the Week, a Morning Call Player of the Week, a D3Hoops.com Player of the Week, and was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year. She is majoring in business administration with a minor in psychology.
