Allentown, PA (November 24, 2009)
– The Cedar Crest College basketball team won its third-straight game with a 73-61 victory over Penn State Berks in non-league play on Tuesday evening in Lees Gymnasium.

Senior Lakeema Jones (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) led the way for Cedar Crest hitting for 20 points in the victory, going an impressive 4-for-4 from three-point land.  Sophomore Allison Horn (New Triploi, PA/Northwestern) tallied a season-high 15 points and added a game-high seven assists, while sophomore Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin) added nine points and a season-high 18 boards.

Junior Leann Wallower (Havertown, PA/Haverford) posted 12 points in the win, while senior Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle) added 12 rebounds for the Falcons.

Penn State Berks jumped out with the early lead, going ahead 8-3 just 2:30 into the start of the contest.  Cedar Crest would cut the lead several times, but could never take control on the scoreboard.  The Nittany Lions went up by as much as 11 with 6:25 to play in the first half on a layup by Sam Westcott.

However, back-to-back layups by Wallower and Sunderhaus and a made trey by Oakes put the Falcons right back in the contest, cutting Penn State’s lead, 32-26.  Horn would nail two free throws just before the end the first half to cut Penn State’s lead, 36-34, going in to the locker room.

Cedar Crest came out of halftime on a mission.  The Falcons went on a 13-4 run over the first five minute of the second half of play to go ahead, 47-40 on a made layup by junior Lauren Seale (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Christian).  Cedar Crest would lead the rest of the contest, going up by as much as 20 points at the 6:58 mark.

The Nittany Lions were led by Courtney Bailey who tallied a game-high 22 points and grabbed 15 boards.

Cedar Crest, which improves to 3-1 overall on the season, travels to Wilkes University on Monday, November 30th for a 7:00 p.m. non-league contest.
