CEDAR CREST BASKETBALL OFF TO BEST START IN SCHOOL HISTORY WITH WIN OVER VALLEY FORGE

Allentown, PA (December 3, 2009) – The 2009-10 Cedar Crest College basketball team is off to its best start in school history after a 66-51 victory over Valley Forge Christian College on Thursday evening in Lees Gymnasium in non-conference play.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 5-1 overall.  This marks the best start for a Cedar Crest basketball team in school history.  The Falcons have won five-straight games with their only loss coming to nationally ranked DeSales University. 

Sophomore Allison Horn (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern) had the complete game leading Cedar Crest with a team-high 16 points, including 4-for-8 from three-point land, a career-high nine assists, and six boards. 

Senior Lakeema Jones (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) added 13 points for the Falcons, while fellow senior Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle) posted nine points and 11 rebounds in the win.  Junior Leann Wallower (Havertown, PA/Haverford), who has hit in double figures in every game so far this season for the Falcons, dropped in 10 points on the night. 

Valley Forge was led by Amanda Reich who tallied a game-high 28 points for the Patriots.

Cedar Crest led by just three at the half, but came out firing in the second half going up by as much as 16 with 10:00 minutes remaining.   

Cedar Crest is now 5-1 overall on the season, while Valley Forge drops to 3-6 on the season.  The Falcons will open Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Monday, December 7th at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Immaculata University.
