CEDAR CREST FIELD HOCKEY DROPS NON-LEAGUE GAME TO DESALES


Allentown, PA (October 1, 2009) – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team dropped a 3-1 non-conference matchup to DeSales University on Thursday afternoon. 

Cedar Crest freshman Lauren Salge (Robbinsville, NJ/Allentown) scored the first goal of her college career off of a pass from sophomore Tamera Gruzdis (Allentown, PA/Liberty) to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the first half.
 
DeSales tied the contest five minutes later when Alyssa Knappenberger scored on a corner off a pass from Jayme Matthews.  The Bulldogs scored again just before the end of the first half to take a 2-1 lead off a goal Amy Pulcini. 

Melissa Gilroy then notched a goal seven minutes into the start of the second half to take the 3-1 lead.

Cedar Crest’s senior goalie Rachel Orlen (Robbinsville, NJ/Highstown) made 15 saves, while sophomore Falynn Strohl (Allentown, PA/William Allen) made one stop in the contest.   

DeSales held a 31-8 shot advantage and a 8-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Cedar Crest falls to 2-8 overall and will host Richard Stockton College on Tuesday, October 6th for a 4:00 p.m. non-league matchup.  This game will be the Falcons Play for a Cure game.
