ONJACK LEADS CEDAR CREST IN 3-1 WIN OVER HOOD
Frederick, Maryland (October 11, 2009)- Freshman Catherine Onjack (Bangor, PA/ Bangor), scored the game-winner and posted two assists in Cedar Crest College Field Hockey’s 3-1 win over Hood College on Sunday afternoon in non-league action.
Falcons got on the board first when Onjack sent a pass to sophomore, Emily Seifert (Reading, PA/ Schyukill Valley) at the 21:35 mark in the first half. Just over a minute later, Junior Briana Guggenberger (Nazareth, PA/ Nazareth) hit Onjack on a penalty corner to make it a 2-0 contest.
Hood responded ten minutes into the start of the second half with an un-assisted goal by Megan Cahill.
Cedar Crest would respond once more when freshman Ashley Jennings (Lehighton, PA/ Lehighton) took a pass from Onjack and made it 3-1 in favor of the Falcons.
Cedar Crest and Hood each tallied 16 shots on the day, while Hood held a 10-9 advantage in penalty corners.
Senior goalkeeper, Rachel Orlen (Robinsville, NJ/ Highstown), who ranks 10th in the nation with a .852 save percentage, posted 6 saves on the day for the Falcons.
Hood’s goalkeeper, Anne Marie Hantman, made 7 shots in the game.
Cedar Crest, who improves to 4-9 overall, will travel to Keystone College on Wednesday October 14, for a 4pm Colonial States Athletic Conference Contest.
