SALGE SCORES CAREER-HIGH FOUR GOALS TO LEAD CEDAR CREST COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY TO WIN OVER ROSEMONT


Allentown, PA (October 19, 2009) – Freshman Lauren Salge (Robbinsville, NJ/Allentown) scored a career-high four goals and added one assist and junior Adrienne Maurer (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) added two goals in Cedar Crest College field hockey’s 9-1 victory over Rosemont College on Monday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference play.

Salge scored her first goal on a penalty stroke at the 9:07 mark early in the first half to give Cedar Crest the 1-0 lead.  She then answered again 5:24 later on an unassisted tally.  Salge made it a 3-0 contest when she found the back of the cage at the 20-minute mark, which would carry the Falcons into halftime.

Salge opened the scoring in the second half when she went one-on-one with the Rosemont keeper 1:30 into the start of the second half to give Cedar Crest the 4-0 advantage.

Freshman Catherine Onjack (Bangor, PA/Bangor) took a pass from freshman Ashley Jennings (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) at the 40-minute mark to make it a 5-0 contest. 

Rosemont’s Gina Donnelly scored the lone goal for the Ravens at 42:16 to cut Cedar Crest’s lead, 5-1.

Junior Jessica Sanchez (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) then blasted a shot from just inside the circle to put the Falcons ahead, 6-1, with 21:35 remaining in the contest.

Maurer found the back of the cage to score her first goal of the season off a pass from Sanchez at 56:25 to make it a 7-1 game.
 
Senior Dah-ve Bell (Summerville, SC/Ft. Dorchester) scored the first goal of her collegiate career off a pass from Salge at the 8:10 mark, before Mauer took a pass from Bell with 4:29 remaining to cap the scoring.

Senior goalie Rachel Orlen (Robbinsville, NJ/Highstown) made one save in goal for the Falcons.

Cedar Crest held a 21-2 advantage in shots, while holding a 16-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Cedar Crest improves to 5-10 overall (2-4 CSAC) and will travel to Marywood University on Wednesday, October 21st for a key 4:00 p.m. matchup.
